week 7: #16 what is wiki
The picture of the busy bees is appropriate for wikis, I think. After accessing the iHCPL wiki & creating a account I added my blog to the favorite blogs page. What was interesting? All the chatting going on. What types of applications within libraries might work include sharing information amongst staff. None of work the days, let alone the same hours. Having one central place, virtual bulletin board, to become updated would be helpful.

week 6: #13 Tagging ...
The 8 minute Del.icio.us tutorial video was a good overview for beginners. Bookmarking possibilities are endless & helpful, and fun to use. Rather than relying a finite way to do things, there will be unlimited combinations.

week 6: #14 getting not-so-technical with Technorati
So Boing Boing is #1 blog spot in the world. And it is a totally disappointing display. The technology far outstrips the worth of the content. Very disappointing.
week 6:#15 On Library #2.0 & Web 2.0
Dr. Wendy Schultz, in her article "A temporary place in time", gave me the greatest insight into the world of 2.0. It is a world evolving & mutating. Looking at her clever photo, my guess is because of her age she has seen all the steps leading into this brave new world. And she tries to see over the horizon.
"Icebergs" by Rick Anderson presents a realistic view of both the positive gains, and the possible downsides of the future. He also sounds the alarm to the profession about the need to shift direction "one little boat at a time."

week 5: #12 The "Library" elf
Having an elf help keep track of things is a wonderful idea. For me, however, it isn't something I would use. Privacy issues. Also, I try to only have a few items out at a time thus minimizing the amount of stuff to manage.
week 5 #11; a thing about library thing
I'm not a cataloger, but I did create one. It was fun to do. If you would like to see what accomplished, see http://www.librarything.com/catalog/lynlyn8

week 5 exercise 10
Creating an avitar was fun. Trying on different hairstyles, outfits, etc. was like playing w/paper dolls. Plus the backgrounds? surfs up!
I used the Yahoo avitar @http://avatars.yahoo.com/
